I tend to project myself as either a quiet guy or a hyperactive and elated fella.

Parts of the Life
I only get into the cheerful mood when I'm with my girlfriend or my closer friends.

I have been an avid bodybuilder for the past 5 years,
and I love what the sport has done for my life..

I only wanna touch the ends of the universe,
But all I can do is stare at the stars...

Eloz! Its been long since I last posted.. Haha well, today marks 6 months of me and Saras being together. Well, Last night it was memorable. I fetched her from school and we ran into our good friends, Cynthia and Greg. So well, it was an impromptu double date. I was glad we got to meet on such a special day! Well, we didn't do much, just chatted, but we sure did enjoy ourselves!! We ended up going to Macdonals as I was dieting for tomorrows National Championships, and the grilled chicken foldover with a coke light was my only option. Then I accompanied her home. As I was about to leave, my darling seemed very uncomfortable, and reluctant for me to leave. It was 11.40 something, but I thought maybe something was bothering her. So we sat down at a staircase and started talking. All of a sudden she said, "Hubby, its 12 mn" Then I looked at her with an inquiring look and she said " Happy 6 mnths Anniversary!!" I never saw that coming, and completely didn't realise up to that point how 12 mn marked the next day! That girl sure is full of surprizes! I went home with a smile, as always and of course!

Well guys, I got rather pissed off by a friend's friend recently. I won't mention his name, but well, this is what happened. I went to RP to meet my girlfriend, and ran into another friend, Shree. Well, she was waiting for one of her friends, and the 4 of us ended up at the Causeway Point food junction. So we were introducing ourselves and when Shree mentioned that I was a bodybuilder, he said "Wow okay, I can see that" and what he said next really annoyed me. He asked "So pills or injections?" Annoyed, I replied, "Hard work" The guy actually had the cheek to ask me again, "Pills or injections?" Apparently, he has no idea what bodybuilding is about. Ironically, he also claimed that he used to work at an expensive gym!

I got extremely annoyed by his question. It didn't help that hes not the only one who asked me such a question. Only I know how much effort Ive put in to this sport. I started off as a skinny guy, weighing only 47kg. I was bullied, and treated like a 2nd class citizen and I worked extremely hard, day in and day out to break out of it. I spent countless hours of my life doing research on the sport. While other people went out socialising or watched movies I was in the gym training like crazy. While other people spent on themselves and indulged in luxuries, I scrimped and saved up to buy supplements. I was eating, drinking, sleeping and living bodybuilding. After following my training and dieting regime for 5 years, all I get are accusations of steroids? That was seriously a bigger turnoff than Mr Bean in a bikini!!

As for the person who made the accusation, he didn't have a physique decent enough to comment on me, despite him formely working in an expensive gym. What kind of people are working in gyms these days??? If you don't have what it takes to become a bodybuilding champion, it doesn't necessarily mean that others can't. I simply am a better man, and was able to stick to the "regimental" bodybuilding lifestyle and work hard long enough. This sport isn't something any Tom, Dick or Harry can do. Trust me, I know simply by the sheer number of people who come and go. This sport requires dedication, passion, discipline, determination, and a desire to be the best! Other sports like soccer for example, you spend 3 hours per training, 3 times a week. Bodybuilding is completely different. You spend 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Its not just a sport, it's a lifestyle!

When a soccer player of 3 years scores a goal, they would say he is very experienced and a good player, but they won't accuse him of bribing the goalee to let his goal in.
When a table tennis player of 5 years managed to get the better of a very complicating situation, they would say he has very good skill from his years of playing. Nope, they won't accuse him of choreographing the game to make himself look better.
So why do they accuse bodybuilders of steroids straight away? Did they know that the Singapore Bodybuilders Federation conducts urine tests for the winners of any local bodybuilding conpetitions? Or that Ive never been tested positive for banned substances before??

Here are my thoughts..
Not all men have what it takes to develop the physique of a bodybuilder, so when they see another guy who did it, thay can't accept the fact that they are nothing compared to them. Hence, they accuse them of steroids instead, despite the hard work and years put in. This somewhat makes them feel better about themselves, but deep down, they know that the bodybuilder had showed him to his face how lousy he truly is.
Personally, I think defaming others doesn't make you any better, Only bettering your best does! You can accuse me of taking steroids anyday, but at the end of the day, I'm still a bodybuilding champion, and you, well, just another average Joe in the world..

Bodybuilding is not like swimming or running. You can be a leisure swimmer or runner, but you can't just be a leisure bodybuilder. That sort of physique comes with a price, a price only an elite gruop of men can pay..

A small word of advice to whoever reads this post; Don't ask a bodybuilder, or any other sportsman for that matter questions like what steroids or supplements they took. Ask them how many years have they been training. In any sport in the world, a person who trained harder and has more experience will do better than another person who didn't. Learn to appreciate their efforts..
